Golem Trust Computing Ltd¶

Golem Trust is an Ankh-Morpork hosting company that sells sovereign compute to the Patrician’s Office, the Civic Defence Establishment, the Royal Bank of Ankh-Morpork and merchant guilds across the Circle Sea, and runs the lot, by its own description, on someone else’s yard in Finland. After the listing in Milan it drew its own dependency graph, the way its customers were drawing theirs, and found itself further down the stack than the sales page admits: a European substrate already, and open source as much as it can manage, but with a US company holding its DNS, an Australian one carrying its alerts, a scatter of US open-core tools it depends on the goodwill of, and its servers, its backups and its object storage all resting on one operator.

So the provider the others lean on went looking for what it leans on, layer by layer, and the scraps are gathered here. Golem Trust does not exist, and neither do Ponder Stibbons, Adora Belle Dearheart or the converted fish warehouse near the Shades. The providers it moves to, and the one it already stands on, do, and Ankh-Morpork stands where Europe stands, on the far side of the list from the people who wrote it.
